philadelphia in review

i really enjoyed visiting philadelphia and lancaster county, the photos are on flickr-
getting to run up the museum steps was the best! I also enjoyed the shopping:
sophie's yarns, loop , lancaster yarns, and spool, and the quilt shops in lancaster, and dinner at varalli along with reading terminal market with its fresh product, bread and cheeses. meeting new people, linda, kathy, and debbie-great tour guides through amish country. i got to enjoy some time to myself to get some knitting and reading done. the museum's artwork was great; as was the walking around the city. scaring danny bonaduce and getting on tv was just bonus. so far my favorite us cities are:
1. nyc
2. boston/cambridge
3. san francisco
4.philadelphia
5. savannah
i still want to visit chicago and go to the pacific northwest again-wine country anyone? would like to get to maine and new hampshire- maybe kathy's sister would have some space for a few days in nh!?
looking forward to fourth of july activities and a visit with polly and roy. have lots of projects to get done, 'cause you know christmas will be upon us before we know it-
happy 4th of july everyone (a bit early :-)

this one is for gina

on gina's (my cousin in amsterdam) recommendation, i visited this restaurant, and gave karl a big hello- you can't see the writing on the sign, but it says "hey gina!" the restaurant was great, and as you can see, gina, karl is doing very well, and was quite please to have a message from the continent. i took advantage of their "recession recover" menu which included 3 courses, i didn't get a photo of the mahi, but i will leave you with photos of the calamari and the bread pudding

philadelphia day 1

have enjoyed philadelphia so far. reading terminal market--excellent find, and right next to our hotel. bought some snacks for dinner and breakfast. the weather was a bit questionable when we got in, but turned out to be very nice. saw some famous buildings, and this celebrity (was within 3 feet)-i guess i looked like a deranged fan, 'cause he high-tailed it out of the area when i went for the camrea-i may be deranted, but definately not a fan. i also was briefly interviewed by the local news regarding the "kate and jon"(makes 8) announcement. since the hotel doesn't have local channels, i didn't get to see my 3 minutes of fame! i've uploaded more photos onto flickr. so here are a couple of the sites.

girl time. . .

our one photo of the day. joyce and mei.

enjoyed another field trip with the dixie stars-kathy couldn't join us :-( maybe next time. we went to heritage quilts and 2 sisters knit nook in newnan, and brenda heard about a new yarn shop in peachtree city, so we stopped there on our way home. both yarn shops are great and carry a variety of natural fibers. look forward to visiting them again.

also got to enjoy some time with mary, karen, katie and sara before katie moves to nyc. great company, food and wine (and daiquiris!)

in 2 more years. . .

dropped pj and some of the other youth off on sunday for a week at camp cherokee. our guys will be CITs for the day camp our church is sponsoring. this is pj's second year as a CIT, but he and andrew have both been here as summer campers. seeing this photo reminds me that we'll be doing a similar drop off for college in just a couple years. this time is really going to fly by, so i'm going to do my best to capture and relish every moment. by the time i come back from philadelphia, pj will be a licensed driver!

hello friday

more like good morning, no matter how noisy the area near my desk gets, i'll never give up this view from my window! taken this morning when i got to work, the building dates to about 1920, absolutely love it.
