new york day 3

a very soggy day today in nyc, we did some shipping and eating in soho, and by the time we made it back uptown it was pouring. now we're back at the ranch watching movies and drinking coffee and hard cider. hoping for no delays flying home tomorrow. TTFN

new york day 2

here is a view of prospect park. love how the leaves are on the path. today i walked across the brooklyn bridge, i think there should be a weight limit on the bridge like-" you can only cross this bridge if you weight x # of pounds", cause i thought i was going to go over the side into the east river. today's weather was definitely blustery, a bit of sprinkles here and there, but aside from that not to bad. explored prospect park, ate a picnic lunch- then i headed back towards manhattan and walked around the financial district before heading back to katie's. i managed to get turned around near rockefeller center so i didn't see the tree they are putting up. we had dinner at fig and olive, very very good. now we are watching the proposal and settling in for the night. am very glad that katie is feeling better and we have shopping plans for tomorrow. TTFN

which was awesome

new york day 1

here's just one of the pictures taken today. i enjoyed visiting the cloisters-lots of medieval art and tapestries. also another trip to the met, which was soo worth it as i saw a wonderful special exhibit of american artists, and some works by vermeer. also saw the robert frank photos suggested by polly. made some stops at the trim and buttons shops, but didn't find quite what i was looking for. i did a lot of walking, maybe too much so that by the time i got back to katie's my knees were killing me! there are more photos here on flickr. am bummed that katie doesn't feel well, but hopefully she'll be right as rain tomorrow (or at least by saturday). tomorrow i hope to go explore the brooklyn area- park slope, prospect park, etc.

plans.

so after a few email exchanges with katie, i think my plans are pretty final for new york. i've made a lot of notes and have done some on-line research. temperatures will be 40s & 50s, and the leaves are supposed to be great, so let's hope.

wednesday-get settled and explore katie's neighborhood (should land about 3ish)

thursday- the met and the cloisters, bryant park, lunch with katie, ny public library, and "craft" shopping: fabrics, ribbon, buttons, thread, yarn etc. central park-

friday- prospect park, park slope, williamsburg, and brooklyn bridge-

saturday-soho, greenwich village, east village, high line park, chelsea market, central park-

sunday-leaving around noon, so hoping to have brunch

right now no definite plans for the evenings, but i'll have plenty of knitting with me, and i'm sure we'll share some wine. katie's company is all that will be required! am taking my laptop, so i hope to upload photos daily to flickr, we'll see about that one.
