our little world

socks are done! zombies are going to mom- she says they're a perfect fit, and these are so cool they look like self-striping, and i wasn't even trying, glad they're done, and look forward to the next installment of the punk rock sock club- stay tuned.

next up, the spicy socks- finished these in boston, didn't have as much on the second sock as i thought, aren't they lovely!!!

ladies and gentlemen----elvis has left the needles!!! love everything about these- the yarn, pattern, the fit- can't wait to wear these.

yes, that's pj with his permit and mohawk- a vbs challenge, thank goodness it's just hair. no, i have not lost my mind, and pj can keep this look until school starts, but it is not permission to engage in counter-culture, social deviant, rebellious behavior!!! he also got his permit a couple weeks ago, and he's been behind the wheel of a car, but he's got a long way to go before he's really ready to hit the streets.

saturday was total fun with mary and sara, we also did a little nostalgic tour through old roswell before they tear down my childhood- then sunday was quilt square pick up with kathy and lunch at the marietta diner- spinach pie and stuffed grape leaves- knitting, some grilling and enjoying the day- looking forward to a 3 day weekend and the road race- stay tuned

down to the wire...

feeling the time crunch now, but here's what HAS to be done by 9:00 pm on Saturday:

SS lesson- nearly done, a few more images and commentary (will probably take to the soccer tournament on saturday)
Dinner with Mary- see not all work!
3 more exercise days
1 evening meeting
2 soccer practices
1 full day of soccer
complete sotsii repair
cook 2 more meals for the week
1 orthodontist appt
1 trip to the post office
1 trip to the grocery store
house cleaning-it's an easy week
folding and prepping 200+ newsletters for bulk mailing (by Thursday)
i think that's it, at least i hope that's it!!! Then i'll have to dive into preparations for mom's party, and 3 birthdays- yikes.

now some comments to comments left on a previous posts:

Polly- yes that is a can of spam-- long story, but considering that the UK was under rations until 1954- nearly mom's entire formative years- should be no surprise-
PJ- learning to drive, am i ready? one the one hand i'm thrilled for him, i remember what it was like and getting that license was a major milestone- on the other hand i'm terrified- i see how folks drive- very scary.
Mary- oh i said at least one expletive when it did it, and then i yelled at mom, had to apologize, as i wasn't yelling AT her, but rather yelling in general! then i was angry at myself for being so stupid, then i thought about how i was going to fix it, by sunday after it had dried, i put the live stitches on a dpn and 2 stch holders, and since then have figured out how i can fix it, may not be to it's original state, but hopefully you won't be able to tell, so by the time i did the post i had calmed down alot!

before i hit the road

well the count down is now 52 days, give or take. i've got some things marked off my list, and i have some things that are WIPs++, meaning they are in progress, but waaay into progress . . i've learned that if i keep my work space neat and clean up immediately, i'm more productive. here's a photo of some totally done things, book read-loved it- march quilt square done, and a few pinwheel squares for the WM quilt. got most of the photos scanned and sorted for kecia and david. made a couple books (glad i saved the very heavy cardboard from my creative memories purchases, these make great book covers, but very difficult to cut). WOC scrapbook up to date, but will be a WIP all year. also created a wine journal of sorts from the wine spectator magazine's suggested best buys and best values.

the 2 soccer games over the weekend were very cold, windy, and one very rainy and late- hoping for no more like that! gotta get packed and ready for relaxing and training and more knitting. despite the long list of "must-do" we took time out for a thrasher's game, we got free tickets and made a last minute ditch of responsibilities, took my knitting along for those "down" moments, we had a great family outing.

i won't be around much until probably this time next week, no laptop, wireless, etc. so enjoy your week, and whatever plans you have . . .ttfn

un-relativity

as i was saying to mary yesterday, i love blogging and projects like her create 08 album because it's simple and if you only have one picture you don't have to fret about the "right" layout-or taking lots of staged pictures ; which is what i found i was doing when i was into the whole "scrapbooking my children's lives" mode, capturing memories and thoughts should be simple, so that being said here are some random un-related photos

first up, here's Brenda and her first sock, my first sock student-Brenda crochets and quilts and has now self-taught herself to knit-excellent job, girl! and she's already gotten started on the second sock, has yarn for pair 2 and 3! on a note about new sock knitters, kare (SIL #2) has completed 2 pair and is getting ready to start #3, and she learned how to do these the end of january- yeah!

how about this cute tin, bought this at Knitty City in NY- the top say's "Put money for wool fix here",

can you read the small print- "is wool your dirty little secret too?"
love it- mum needs to save her pennies for more yarn! you can have one too for the low low price of $8, call Pearl she'll take care of you- tell her i sent you!

here's clue #3, finished it at about 10:00 last night- ugh, gotta get caught up on this- thinking of hiding out in my hotel room in april when i go to miami, and doing power knitting while eating room serivce, or stuff from publix- we'll see

how about this little dealy- found this in the ladies at the GT Research Institute, had to grab my camera- every fan needs one!

now for a belated v.day update, the flowers are from carol, all the chicks at work got them, aren't they pretty, since i wasn't quick enough on the draw, i had to use my very large- greatest writers mug mum brought me back from england- it has all the great, dead british authors on it male and female!♥

here's my favorite, think i've gotten a handle on close ups. steve got me the roses for v.day several days ahead so that i could enjoy them for several days before i left for ny . . how sweet, yes i saved one for the memory box♥

here they are at my desk- as of this posting they've gone into the trash, but i got to really enjoy them, and they didn't turn brown-
